Now that's a cake!

The Lakes, Westerville, OH

Hello!

So of course the big thing today is the royal wedding. Sadly I remember when I was around 14 or so and I always said I am going to be the girl Prince William marries! My mom fully supported this idea. So that fact he did choose his princess today is a big deal to me. There were two things I wanted to see. Since my degree is in Fashion I was dying to see the dress and designer she chose. The second being now that I am baking I was dying to see this massive cake! Well let me tell you, I am not disappointed on any level with either. Here they are...

This is all fruitcake hand chosen by Kate and Will. It was made by Fiona Cairns.

"We've used Catherine's list of the 'language of flowers," Cairns added. "The 'language of flowers' is something that was used in Victorian times to express, in a coded way, emotions that couldn't easily or openly be expressed in words but [could be] conveyed in flowers. So all the flowers have meanings." For example, the bridal rose symbolizes happiness, ivy leaves marriage, and "Sweet William" flowers, which represent gallantry. - US Weekly

The dress was designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen. I love long sleeved and short sleeve wedding dresses so this was beautiful to me and the girl wearing it is even more beautiful. Such a great way to honor McQueen.

I've been seeing posts all week about cookies people were making that represented the wedding and I also saw that Jeni's Ice Cream released royal wedding flavors. I did not get anything made for the occasion but I'm going to be in the kitchen this weekend so I will post what comes out of the oven!!!!

Have a great Friday everyone!
